Patrick Tairua, a Bora Bora native, grew up immersed in the island’s rich traditions. From fishing and plantation work to mastering the art of fire dancing at the Heiva festival, he developed a deep connection to Polynesian culture. His passion for sharing his homeland led him to become a tour guide, sparking a lifelong journey in Bora Bora’s tourism industry.
Seeking to expand his knowledge, Patrick embarked on studies in Polynesian history, culture, and ecology. This expertise propelled him to manage activities at a prestigious Bora Bora hotel, where he also founded his own dance troupe. Inspired by the symbolism of Polynesian marriage ceremonies, he offered unique vow renewals for couples.
In 2001, Patrick’s entrepreneurial spirit flourished as he founded Maohi Nui. His mission was clear: to provide immersive Bora Bora experiences showcasing the island’s beauty, vibrant culture, and welcoming spirit.
